CONWAY -

The Coastal Carolina University women's lacrosse team was among 65 schools that received Division I Academic Squad honors by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association on Monday. It is the first year that the CCU women's lacrosse program has received this honor.

The IWLCA awards Academic Squad honors to any women's lacrosse program with a cumulative team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The CCU women's lacrosse team finished the 2012-13 academic year with a combined 3.452 GPA.

An impressive 21 members of the 2012-13 team were named to the Big South Presidential Honor Roll for holding at least a 3.0 GPA for the academic year. In addition, Kimmy DeLonge and Kelsey Thurston each earned a spot on the spring 2013 CCU President's List for completing the semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA, while Lily Yednock was named the Big South Women's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Coastal is one of three Big South schools to receive IWLCA Academic Squad honors, joining Davidson and Longwood.
