Davidson, N.C. - Lily Yednock and Maddy Ciardi of the Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team have been voted second team All-Conference by the Big South's coaches. In addition, Yednock has been named the 2013 Women's Lacrosse Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The announcement was made at the awards banquet on Thursday night, prior to the start of the Big South tournament.

Yednock, a sophomore from Columbus, Ohio, was voted Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the league's Sports Information Directors for holding a 4.0 GPA as a graphic design major. Yednock has also been named to the Big South All-Academic team for her academic achievements.

In addition to being honored for her work in the classroom, Yednock was tabbed second team All-Conference for her abilities on the field. The midfielder and co-captain played in 11 games in Coastal's inaugural season, garnering starts in 10 of those games. Her season was cut short due to an injury that sidelined her for four of Coastal's final five games. Despite the missed playing time, Yednock led the team defensively with 37 ground balls and 30 caused turnovers. Offensively, she notched 11 goals on 36 shots, and tallied five assists to finish the season with 16 points. Yednock provided the game-winning goal in Coastal's 16-15 victory at Presbyterian College.

Ciardi also received second team All-Conference honors for her play throughout the 2013 season. She started in 15 games on defense for the Chanticleers, leading Coastal's back line in ground balls with 22. Ciardi also recorded eight forced turnovers and won seven draw controls.

The Chanticleers went 5-11 overall, 2-5 in Big South play in Coastal Carolina's inaugural season of women's lacrosse.
