Geiter Named Choice Hotels Offensive Player of the Week
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -
Sophomore midfielder Alicia Geiter has been named the Choice Hotels Offensive Player of the Week for her performances in a pair of Chanticleer wins last week, the Big South Conference announced on Monday afternoon.
The Moorestown, N.J., native recorded her first hat trick of the season in a 14-8 win at Furman on Friday evening and followed it with another three-goal performance to go along with one assist in an 18-3 win at Kennesaw State. Geiter also recorded four draw controls, two ground balls and one caused turnover on the week. Her three draw controls at Kennesaw State marked a new career high.
Geiter, who set the Coastal Carolina freshman single-season scoring record with 27 goals in 2014, currently ranks second on the team with 12 goals this season. She has scored nine times in the Chanticleers' last four games.
This award marks the first of the season for Geiter and the second of her career. She was previously named The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week for games played from March 10-16 last season. Additionally, it's the third weekly honor for a Chanticleer this season. Freshman midfielder Taylor Pascale was named The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week on March 10, while senior midfielder Lily Yednock was named the Big South Defensive Player of the Week on Feb. 17.
Coastal Carolina doesn't return to action until beginning conference play with a game at Longwood University on Saturday, April 4 at 1 p.m. The Chants are 0-2 all-time against the Lancers.
