Charlotte, N.C. - Freshman midfielder Charlotte O’Leary of the Coastal Carolina women’s lacrosse team was named The Crons Brand Big South Conference Women’s Lacrosse Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday. The honor is O’Leary’s first in her career, and the first for a Coastal Carolina women’s lacrosse player in the program’s history.
Through the first two games of the season, O’Leary has tallied five goals and two assists to lead the team with seven points. She scored three of her goals in Coastal’s second game against Marquette, with two of those coming in the final four minutes that tied the game for the Chants and forced overtime. She is also tied for second on the team in shots with eight, all of which have landed on frame. Additionally, O’Leary has been credited with three ground balls and four draw controls through two games.
Coastal returns to action Saturday, Feb. 23 when the Chants host Virginia Tech for a noon match at Brooks Stadium.
