CONWAY - As we count down to the inaugural game, each day GoCCUSports.com will profile the lighter side of Coastal Lacrosse. Today's student-athletes to be profiled are Stephanie Torosian and Rachel Ferrara.

#23 Stephanie Torosian

What is your personal goal for the inaugural season? To become the best that I can for my team and myself, and to take in every skill I learn and apply it.

What got you started in lacrosse? What got me started in lacrosse was watching my baby sister play in one of her games. I was hooked from there.

What is your major, and what are your plans after college? My major is health promotion. My plan after college is to search for jobs/ internships to continue to grow with experience. I hope to find a great job and settle down and start my journey in the real world.

Where is your hometown?  Hopkinton, Mass.

What’s your position responsible for on the field? Not letting the other team score.

How do you help the team stay focused during the season?  How I help my team stay focused is by getting them amped up in the huddle after warm-ups to get their mindset ready for the game or practice.

Who is your role model? My role model is my mom. Without her I would not be the person I am. She has shown me incredible strength and courage. She also allowed me to be my own person, helping lead me into success. I am truly blessed to have an amazing woman that  helped me get where I am now.

What is your biggest pet peeve? Biggest pet peeve is when people chew with their mouths open. Especially when chewing gum.

What is your favorite pre-game meal? Peanut butter banana sandwich.

Do you have any superstitions? Yes. When entering the crease (the goalie circle) for games, I have to do my side-to-side steps to each post to feel balanced and know all my angles of the field.

What is your favorite moment in your lacrosse career? Celebrating victorious moments with my teammates.

What’s your guilty pleasure music-wise? Old school R&B music. It gets me motivated to be in the right mindset. It truly relaxes me.

If you could be an animal what would you be? If I could be an animal I would be an elephant. I say that because they are very smart animals, travel in packs and look out for one another.

Why did you choose the number you wear? I choose to wear the number 23 because it is my lucky number. Ever since I was little that was my go-to number for everything I did.

Why did you choose Coastal? I chose Coastal for school because of weather, the beach, and beautiful school. I knew Coastal would be the place I could truly excel into a great student and become independent.

#24 Rachel Ferrara

What is your personal goal for the inaugural season? My goal is to play a key role in each game this season. I plan to establish my role on the team and contribute to the success of Coastal Carolina lacrosse.

What got you started in lacrosse? When I was younger my dad always encouraged my sister and I to start playing even before girl’s lacrosse was brought to my area. My sister decided to play while I refused. I quickly changed my mind after attending her first game and I signed up for the following year.

What is your major, and what are your plans after college? I’m currently majoring in communications but I plan to go into public relations. I’m not positive on plans for after college but I have a lot of interest in event planning so that’s the direction I’m heading towards.

Where is your hometown? I live in St. Mary’s County in California, Md.

What’s your position responsible for on the field? A midfielder is responsible for offense and defense as well as being a key aspect in transition.

How do you help the team stay focused during the season? We all encourage one another to work hard by pushing each other during practice to prepare for games.

Who is your role model? I look to my coaches as role models. They are incredible on and off the field. They lead by example and I look up to them.

What is your biggest pet peeve? My biggest pet peeve is probably when people interrupt. Nothing is more annoying than someone who constantly interrupts you or others when they are trying to talk.

What is your favorite pre-game meal? My favorite pre-game meal is spaghetti dinner, of course, and side salad with garlic bread!

Do you have any superstitions? I always wear the same thick black headband for every game.

What is your favorite moment in your lacrosse career?  It’s a three way tie. The first, scoring the game tying goal in my high school regional game. The second, signing to play college lacrosse at CCU. The third was scoring the first goal of fall ball this fall.

What’s your guilty pleasure music-wise? I am a big fan of dubstep. Other than that I listen to just about anything, depending on the mood I’m in.

If you could be an animal what would you be?  Definitely a house pet; probably a dog. They live an ideal life.

Why did you choose the number you wear? My number is 24 and my birthday is on the 24th of May. Ironically my sister’s number is 16 while her birthday is on the 16th.

Why did you choose Coastal? I chose coastal because it was the perfect fit. Size, location, academics and athletics were the main factors when choosing a college and Coastal fit them all completely. The location is ideal, and the size is very comfortable as well as the academics. Athletically, I saw it as an incredible opportunity to be a part of a brand new program. The coaches seemed amazing and their goals and views for the future of the program were very pleasing. Although there wasn’t an established team to base my opinion off of, after meeting each of my teammates, I’m delighted.
