CONWAY - As we count down to the inaugural game, each day GoCCUSports.com will profile the lighter side of Coastal Lacrosse. Today's student-athletes to be profiled are Maddy Ciardi and Kayla Wynne.

#10 Maddy Ciardi

What is your personal goal for the inaugural season? My goal for this season is to start. 

What got you started in lacrosse? I started lacrosse because it is a really popular sport in my town, so when my friends started to play I wanted to as well. 

What is your major, and what are your plans after college? My major is Exercise and Sports Science. After college I want to go to Physical Therapy School and become a physical therapist. 

Where is your hometown? I am from Montclair, N.J. 

What’s your position responsible for on the field? I play defense. 

How do you help the team stay focused during the season? I help them stay focused by always remaining positive. 

Who is your role model? My mom because she is such a dedicated person. 

What is your biggest pet peeve? Setting a goal and not completing it. 

What is your favorite pre-game meal? Carbs. 

Do you have any superstitions? I have to wear my hair in ponytail with two braids during games because I think it is bad luck if I don’t. 

What is your favorite moment in your lacrosse career? Coming back from surgery and starting again. 

What’s your guilty pleasure music-wise? 60’s music. 

If you could be an animal what would you be? A monkey. 

Why did you choose the number you wear? Number 10 was also my soccer number which gave me good luck. 

Why did you choose Coastal? I loved all the opportunities I was being given. Being part of a first year Division I program is awesome. Years from now I can look back I say I helped start that program. I also love how Coastal is so close to the beach.

What is your personal goal for the inaugural season? My goal for the inaugural season is to be a starting midfielder and help lead my team to a winning season. 

What got you started in lacrosse? I started playing lacrosse in 6th grade because all of my friends were playing. 

What is your major, and what are your plans after college? My major is Special Education and after college I plan on becoming a high school teacher.  

Where is your hometown? I was born in Wantagh, N.Y., but in middle school I moved to Weddington, N.C. 

What’s your position responsible for on the field? As a mid-fielder, I am responsible for being a complete player on offense and defense and help transitioning the ball. 

How do you help the team stay focused during the season? I help the team stay focused during the season by always giving positive reinforcement.  

Who is your role model? My role model is my cousin Joey. He is the bravest and most positive person I know. 

What is your biggest pet peeve? My biggest pet peeve is when people spit really loud. It freaks me out a lot. 

What is your favorite pre-game meal? Pasta and chocolate. 

Do you have any superstitions? No. 

What is your favorite moment in your lacrosse career? My favorite moment in my lacrosse career was playing for the North Carolina state team. 

What’s your guilty pleasure music-wise? I absolutely love country music. 

If you could be an animal what would you be? I would be a dolphin because I love swimming and I love the ocean. 

Why did you choose the number you wear? I chose to be number 11 because it is my Dad’s lucky number. 

Why did you choose Coastal? I chose Coastal because it had everything I wanted in a school. Coastal had my major, was the perfect size, and had lacrosse.
