Coastal Lacrosse Downs Delaware State, 24-6
CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina lacrosse team won its second straight game by double-figure goals as the Chanticleers ran away with a 24-6 victory over Delaware State Saturday afternoon at Brooks Stadium.
Coastal (8-5, 5-1 ASUN) received goals from 14 different players, including multiple goals from six players.
Keri White led the charge with six points on four goals and two assists. Courtney Genovese and Sarah McEvoy each added a trio of goals. Maggie Carr led all players in points with seven, dishing out six helpers and scoring one of her own.
Harley Barrett earned her seventh win of the season, making a pair of saves as she backstopped Coastal to a 16-4 lead after the first 30 minutes. Regan McComb replaced Barrett to start the second half, and the freshman also finished with two saves in her fourth appearance of the season.
Delaware State opened the scoring on a free position goal by Olivia Summerville at 28:21 before Coastal found the back of the net 10 straight times over the next nine minutes to take firm control of the game. White scored three of her goals during that stretch, and Genovese added a pair.
The Chanticleer defense limited Delaware State to just five shots the entire second half, and only two of those shots hit the mark during that span.
All eight of Coastal's goals during the second half came from different players as the Chanticleers emptied their bench.
Delaware State was led by the three goals and one assist of Iman Hasan.
Coastal continues its five-game home stand on April 21 when it hosts Jacksonville for a 4 p.m. contest at Brooks Stadium.
