The Chanticleers Control the Bison 23-3 in Women's Lacrosse

Final Stats

CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team dispatched Howard Bison, 23-3 Thursday afternoon, in Conway. The Chanticleers improved to 7-5 and 4-1 in ASUN Conference and the Bison dropped to 0-8 and 0-6 in ASUN play.

Howard started the scoring winning the opening draw and sped down the field to find the back of the net in the first 14 seconds of the match.

Coastal needed only 46 seconds to knot the game at 1-1 when Sophie Crowther (two goals) scored her first goal on a free position shot. Maggie Carr (two goals, two assists) gave the Chants their first lead, 2-1, at 27:09 on an unassisted goal.

The Bison pulled even, at 2-2, eight seconds later, before CCU would go on 21 to 1 run to close out the game.

Courtney Genovese gave Coastal a 3-2 lead it would not relinquish, scoring on a free position shot at 26:51.

Keri White (three goals) Haley Kyger, Hannah Krin, Carr, Crowther and Sarah McEvoy (first goal of her CCU career) all scored to push the Chants lead to 11-2.

Howard only found the back of the net one last time at the 9:22 mark to give them three goals on the day.

Krin scored her second goal with seven minutes left in the first half making the score 12-3. With 6:03 left to play in the first half McEvoy (four goals, two assists) scored her second to start a running clock that would last for the last 36:03.

Haley Alexander and McEvoy scored to make it 15-3 to close out the first half of play.

Ali Davis (two goals) started the scoring off for the Chanticleers in the second half finding the back of the net off a Haley Wells assist.

Jenny Thompson, Julia Lucas (one goal, three assists), Rachel Wagner (two goals), and Lauren Thomas all found the back of the net for the first time this season, to close out the scoring for the match.

Coastal Carolina will next be in action Saturday, April 15, against ASUN foe Delaware State, draw is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
