CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Coastal Carolina sophomore Jessica Alexander was selected as the Choice Hotels Big South Women’s Golfer of the Week the conference office announced Thursday.
Alexander turned in one of her best tournaments of the fall earlier this week to help the Chants finish tied for seventh at the Challenge at Onion Creek. Alexander finished the tournament first for the Chanticleers and tied for 16th overall with a two-day score of 222 (73-68-81).
The Riverview, Fla., native opened the event with a 73 in the first round before carding a career-low 68 in the second round. She collected five birdies in the second round and surpassed her previous career-low by two strokes.
Her selection marks the second time this season she has earned the distinction of Big South Women’s Golfer of the Week, and it’s the third week a Chanticleer has accomplished the feat.
“I am thrilled that Jessica was name Big South Golfer of the Week for the second time this fall,” Coastal Carolina head coach Katie Quinney said. “We have a lot of positive results to build on for the spring season.”
