CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Coastal Carolina sophomore women’s golfer Jessica Alexander has been selected as the Choice Hotels Big South Women’s Golfer of the Week the conference office announced Friday. 

Alexander tied for 15th last weekend at the Mercedes-Benz Women’s Collegiate Championships against some of the top competition in the country, as nine teams and six individuals in the event were ranked in the Top 50 in the nation by Golfweek.

She shot a season-best 2-over par 218 (72-74-72) and turned in her lowest rounds of the season with a 72 in both the first and third rounds. 

"Jessica's finish at the Mercedes-Benz was a solid performance against a prestigious field," Coastal Carolina head coach Katie Quinney said.  "Hopefully this will be the start of many Chants to be recognized by the Big South this year."

Alexander and Coastal Carolina return to action Oct. 25-26 to take part in the Palmetto Intercollegiate from the Oak Point Golf Course from Kiawah Island, S.C.
