Coastal Carolinas womens golf team posted its third-consecutive runner-up finish at the 2004 Taco Bell Intercollegiate hosted by East Carolina. The 54-hole event was hosted at the par-72, 6,093-yard Bradford Creek Golf Club.Coastal Carolina continued their solid play in the fall, firing a one-under 287 in the final round and finishing at 876, seven shots behind champion Augusta State. The 876 sets a new school record by seven shots, while the 287 is the second lowest round in school history, following a 286 shot last week at the USF/Beacon Woods Invitational.
Garrett Phillips of Augusta State shot 69 in the final round to take medalist honors with a 212, as ASU had two of the top three finishers in the tournament. Coastals Line Cordes and Rachel Graves tied for fifth at even-par 216, as Graves became just the third Lady Chanticleer to break 70 with a 69 in the final round. Lindsey Letzig and Natalie Cruse tied for 16th at 223, while Katy Heher rounds out the team effort at 225, good for a tie for 27th. Dannielle Renner, playing as an individual, is tied for 54th at 234.
The CCU womens golf team will next be in action at the Lady Paladin Invitational, Fri.-Sun., Oct. 22-24. The tournament is hosted by Furman University and will be contested at the Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, SC.
