CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Coastal Carolina women's golfer Brooke Kochevar has been named the Big South Conference Freshman Women's Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced on Thursday.

Kochevar tied for third at the CSU Wendy's Invitational with a 223 in just her second career tournament. Playing as an individual, she opened the tournament with a career-low round of 71 despite wet and windy conditions. She shot matching 76 scores over the final 36 holes and her third-place finish is the best by a CCU freshman this season. The redshirt freshman finished the CSU Wendy's Invitational with six birdies and 35 pars against 12 bogeys.

Kochevar's honor, which is new for the 2013-14 season, is the first ever received by a Chanticleer. Overall, the Glen Ellyn, Ill., native is the 35th Chanticleer to be named a conference golfer of the week since the 2002-03 season.
