BAYONET POINT, FL - Coastal Carolinas womens golf team holds on to keep a slim one-shot lead after the second round of the USF/Beacon Woods Invitational, Oct. 2. The 54-hole event is being hosted by South Florida at Beacon Woods Country Club (Par 72-6,015 yards) in Bayonet Point, FL.
The Lady Chanticleers returned to the course and shot a respectable 297 in the second round but lost four shots to second place East Carolina, leading them now by one with CCU at 583 and ECU at 584. Host USF is in third place at 592, nine shots back.
Heidi Helliesen of East Carolina moved into the individual lead with a 70 in the second round to put her at four-under 140. Coastal Carolinas Natalie Cruse is tied for third at two-under 142 after shooting a one-over 73 on the middle 18. CCUs Line Cordes is tied for seventh at 145, while Lindsey Letzig is tied for 11th at 147. Rachael Graves is in a tie for 25th at 152, while Katy Heher is tied for 31st at 153.
The final round to be played with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
