CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina freshman women's golfer Courtney Boe has been selected as the Department of Athletics Athlete of the Week.
Boe won the Jacksonville University Labor Day Shootout Monday afternoon in her first collegiate tournament and helped the Chanticleers capture the team title.
Coastal turned in an overall score of 464 to defeat Florida by eight strokes, as the Gators finished tied with Chattanooga with a score of 472.
Boe fired a 111 and shot three over par on the 27-hole course and defeated second place finisher Maria Juliona Loza of Chattanooga by two strokes. Boe shot a 72 in the first round and turned in a very steady performance by making par on 15 of the 18 holes.
Round two was reduced to nine holes due to darkness and poor visibility. Boe, however, finished with a 36 in the second round and birdied the sixth hole.
Coastal returns to action Sept. 26 when the Chanticleers take part in the Golfweek Conference Challenge from Vail, Colo.
