CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women’s golf team opens the 2010-11 season Monday morning when the Chants travel to Jacksoville, Fla,. to take part in the Labor Day Shootout hosted by Jacksonville University.

The event will take place at the TPC at Sawgrass with an elite field taking aim on the PLAYERS Stadium Course.

Jacksonville University will be hosting the one-day, 36-hole event that features several teams that are expected to play in the postseason this year.  Along with Coastal Carolina, Florida, UCF, Chattanooga and USC Upstate will compete in the tournament. 

The tournament begins with the opening round starting off No. 1 at 8 a.m., with Coastal Carolina, Chattanooga and USC Upstate taking the tee. At 9 a.m., Jacksonville, Florida and UCF will begin its rounds.

Coastal is coming off a season that saw the Chanticleers finish runners-up in the Big South and tied for 19th at the NCAA East Regional. 

Individually, the Chants return two golfers who earned All-Big South accolades last year in sophomores Jessica Alexander and Brittany Henderson.
