BATON ROUGE, LA. - Coastal Carolina freshman Aruka Felgueroso is tied for fifth after the first round of the 2007 NCAA Women's Golf East Regional in Baton Rouge, La., May 10. The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Louisiana State University, is being contested at the University Golf Club (Par 72 - 6,403 yards), May 10-12, with the top eight teams and two individuals not on those squads from each of the three regions advancing to the NCAA Championships at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla., May 22-25.
Making the first individual appearance by a Coastal women's golfer in school history, Felgueroso was solid in her first round with a four-under 68. She posted the round with four birdies and no bogies in her first 18 holes. Three players are tied for first at six-under 66, Nannette Hill of Wake Forest, UCLA's Sydnee Michaels and Louisville's Adrienne White. On the team side, UCLA leads with a seven-under 281, three shots better than Furman and Wake Forest.
Felgueroso will play her second round Fri., May 11, teeing off the first hole at 12:20 p.m. CDT, playing with Lene Krog of East Carolina and Mississippi State's Amanda Mathis.
