Women's Golf Tied For 12th Through 36 Holes of 2009 NCAA East Regional

     GAINESVILLE, Fla.The Coastal Carolina University women’s golf team improved on its first day score and is tied for 12th through two rounds of the 2009 NCAA East Regionals May 8. Hosted by the University of Florida, the three-day, 54-hole event is being played at the Mark Bostick Golf Course at the University of Florida (Par 70 - 6,023 yards) in Gainesville, Fla.

      The Chanticleers improved on their opening round by fourt shots and are at 598 through 36 holes, tied with No. 7 Auburn and No. 43 South Carolina. No. 6 Alabama leads at 575, eight shots ahead of No. 20 Denver in second. Coastal Carolina is just six shots outside of the final advancing spot, currently held by No. 14 Georgia at 592. A total of 16 top-50 squads are participating in the tournament, including six teams who finished in the Top-25 at the NCAA Championship a year ago.

      Coastal Carolina was led by senior Jessica Vincent, who is at 4-over 144 and is tied for 14th. Junior Aruka Felgueroso was next with a 9-over 149 in a tie ford 38th, while sophomore Carmen Jones is next in a tie for 59th at 152. Sophomore Alicia Grier is tied for 81st at 155, while senior Ann Maness is in a tie for 86th at 157.

      The Chanticleers will be in the afternoon wave with Auburn and Mississippi, going off the No. 1 hole starting at 11:50 a.m. The top eight teams and top two individuals on non-advancing teams will move on to the NCAA Championship.
