CONWAY - Coastal Carolina junior Brittany Henderson received an at-large bid to compete in the NCAA Women's Golf Central Regional May 10-12, on the Scarlet Course of The Ohio State University Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio, as announced by the NCAA on Monday evening.

Henderson will begin her quest to the 2012 NCAA Championships by playing a practice round at The Ohio State University Golf Club on Wednesday, May 9. The Central Regional consists of 54 holes, with 18 holes being played each day beginning at 8 a.m.

The two other regional sites are the East, hosted by Pennsylvania State University at the Penn State Golf Course (Blue Course) in State College, Pa., and the West, hosted by the University of Colorado at Colorado National Golf Club in Erie, Colo. From each regional, the top eight teams and top two individuals advance to the NCAA Championships, to be held Tuesday through Friday, May 22-25, at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.

The three-time All-Big South Conference selection will be making her third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Regionals and first as an individual.

Playing one of the toughest schedules in the country, the Smiths Falls, Ontario, native led Coastal to four top-10 finishes, including a regular season-best fourth-place finish at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational (March 13-14). In a tightly contested Big South Championship, the Chanticleers finished second, posting the ninth-lowest 54-hole score in program history.

Henderson again paced the Chants at the Big South Championship, as she had all spring, earning individual medalist honors. She set the Big South Championship all-time low round score with a 68 on the second day and the tournament's all-time 54-hole score with a 2-under 241. Henderson holds a 75.43 stroke average and is currently ranked as the 160th individual by Golfweek and 193rd by Golfstat.

Additionally, Henderson compiled a pair of top 5, three top 10 and four top 20 finishes, while carding seven rounds of par or better along with one round in the 60's.

As a freshman in 2010, Henderson finished tied for 95 with a 234 (79-76-79) in the East Regional at Ironwood Country Club in Greenville, N.C. Last season, she tied for 78th (77-74-80=231) at the East Regional held on the Legends Course at LPGA International in Dayton Beach, Fla. She followed that performance with an 88th (tied) finish (81-71-81-77=310) at the 2011 NCAA Championships held at the Traditions Golf Club in Bryan, Texas.

Coastal Carolina has been represented in regional competition by the team or an individual in each of the last seven seasons, making team appearances in 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2011. Aruka Felgueros represented the Chants as an individual at the East Regional in 2007 and again in 2008 at the Central Regional.
