CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team earned its first-ever at-large berth to the NCAA Regionals, April 26. The Chanticleers were selected to play in the NCAA East Regional, hosted by East Carolina University at Ironwood Country Club in Greenville, N.C., May 6-8.
This marks the first time that the Big South Conference has had a team advance as an at-large since the League began receiving an automatic bid into the field. It is also the first time that the conference will have two schools in the field, as Charleston Southern earned the automatic bid by winning the Big South Championship.
"I'm very proud of the team and their hard work this season," Head Coach Katie Quinney said. "Losing the conference tournament was tough on the team, but their solid play throughout the year really put us in the situation that the committee had to take a hard look at our accomplishments. Luckily for us, they thought we were worth the bid and we are excited to continue our season."
