NINETY SIX - Coastal Carolina golfers Brittany Henderson, Jessica Alexander, Marissa Hinchman and Lena Schaeffner have been voted All-Big South by the league's coaches. Additionally, Henderson was named the Big South Golfer and Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The announcement was made at the annual awards banquet that followed Tuesday's second round of play at the 2013 Big South Championship, held at The Patriot Club at Grand Harbor.

Henderson and Alexander earned their fourth consecutive all-conference honors, making the duo only the ninth and 10th Big South players and fifth and sixth Chanticleers to be four-time all-league honorees.

Henderson's Golfer of the Year honor was the first of her career after finishing the regular season with a league-leading 73.96 scoring average. The senior is the eighth Chant to earn the conference's top individual honor. Henderson was Coastal's top performer in nearly every tournament this season, scoring a trio of top-five, six top-10 and eight top-20 event finishes. She posted her top round of the season with a 3-under 69 at the M&F Bank Rebel Intercollegiate. She went on to play the Rebel Intercollegiate 1-under, placing fourth in the 96-competitor field. Henderson is also the Big South's top-ranked individual in the Golfstat Cup holding the 64th place on the list.

In addition to being honored for her work on the links, Henderson was also tabbed to the Big South All-Academic team and named the conference's Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as voted on by the league's Sports Information Directors. The Smiths Falls, Ontario, native holds a team-high 3.96 GPA as a business management major and joins Line Cordes (2005) as the only Chanticleers to earn scholar-athlete of the year plaudits.

Alexander, the 2011 Golfer of the Year and championship individual medalist, wrapped up her final regular season campaign with a Big South third-best 74.54 scoring average. Alexander's season was highlighted by capturing the individual medalist honors at the M&F Bank Rebel Intercollegiate with a CCU 54-hole record score of 8-under 208. Her consistent play throughout the season led to three top-five, six top-10 and eight top-20 event finishes. She played nine rounds at par or better, including a pair of rounds in the 60s. She shot Coastal's and the Big South's lowest round of the season, turning in a 67 at the M&F bank Rebel Intercollegiate.

Schaeffner and Hinchman each earned All-Freshman Team nods by the coaches. Schaeffner finished the regular season with a 77.36 scoring average, ranking 17th-best among Big South student-athletes. She posted her best regular season round of the season with an even-par 72 in the opening round of the M&F Bank Rebel Intercollegiate en route to a 14th-place finish with a season-best 54-hole score of 220 (+4). Hinchman completed the regular season with a 77.68 scoring average, ranking 19th in the league. She twice carded rounds at even-par on her way to a pair of top-10 event finishes.

The top five finishers (and any ties) in the conference championship will receive All-Championship Team honors.
