Women's Golf Third After First Round of PUPS/PDPS Big South Championship

MCCALLA, ALA. -- The Coastal Carolina women's golf team is currently in third after the first round of the 2006 PUPS/PDPS Big South Conference Championship, Apr. 10. The three-round tournament is being played at the Bent Brook Golf Course (Par 72 - 6,184 yards) in McCalla, Ala., Apr. 10-12, with the winner earning the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals.

 The defending champion and second-seeded Lady Chanticleers fired a 307 in the first round and trail top-seed and host Birmingham-Southern by six shots at 301. Third seed Winthrop is currently in second at 304. High Point is currently fourth at 309.

 Junior Katy Heher (Nichols, S.C./Pee Dee Academy) leads Coastal, as she is currently fourth after an opening-round 74. She trails opening round leader Erin White of Winthrop by four shots. Freshman Ann Maness (Galivants Ferry, S.C./Aynor) is next in a tie for eighth at 76, while senior Lindsey Letzig (Richmond, Mo./Richmond) is one shot behind Maness at 77, good for a tie for 11th.

 The Lady Chanticleers will play the second round, again with Birmingham-Southern and Winthrop, Tue., Apr. 11, with the final round of the tournament to be played Wed., Apr. 12.
