Women's Golf In Third After First Round of PUPS Big South Championship

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Coastal Carolina women's golf squad is in third after the first round of the 2007 PUPS Big South Conference Women's Golf Championship, Apr. 9. The three-day, 54-hole event is being played at Coosaw Creek Country Club (Par 71-5,858 yards) in Charleston, S.C.

The Lady Chanticleers posted 317 in the first 18 holes to stand in third, six shots behind opening-round leader Birmingham-Southern at 311. Winthrop is currently in second at 313, while Charleston Southern sits in fourth at 323.

Freshman Aruka Felgueroso is currently tied for second at five-over 76, one shot behind leader Lara Peffley of Radford. Senior Katy Heher is tied for eighth at 79. Sophomore Ann Maness is currently tied for 12th at 80, while junior Rachel Graves and freshman Johanna Rodert are tied for 20th at 82.

The second round of the event will start at 8 a.m., with Coastal going off with Birmingham-Southern and Winthrop starting at 9:40 a.m.
