CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Coastal Carolina University has secured the No. 1 seed in next week’s Big South Women’s Golf Championship, which will be hosted by High Point University at The Patriot Golf Club in Ninety-Six, S.C. Coastal Carolina, last year’s runner-up finisher, receives the No. 1 seed based on its current Golfweek national ranking of 98, the highest among the eight Big South women’s golf programs.

Winthrop, which finished third in last year’s championship, is ranked 112th in the nation by Golfweek and receives the No. 2 seed. Defending champion Charleston Southern is the No. 3 seed with its ranking of 119. New member Gardner-Webb will compete in its first Big South Women’s Golf Championship as the No. 4 seed, as the Bulldogs are ranked No. 147. Radford, ranked No. 165, will be the No. 5 seed in the championship, while associate women’s golf member Bucknell (198) is the No. 6 seed. Host High Point receives the No. 7 seed (No. 201) and associate member Holy Cross (No. 8 – 236) rounds out the championship field. In addition, new Big South member Presbyterian College will participate in the event, but will not count in the overall team and individual standings due to its transition to Division I.
