WALLACE, NC Coastal Carolina battled and eventually finished fourth at the UNC Wilmington Lady Seahawk Invitational, Apr. 4-5. The tournament was played at the River Landing Country Club (Par 72 - 6,134 yards) in Wallace, N.C.
Second-round leader Georgia State shot 309 in the final round to finish at 914 and win the team title by seven shots over host UNC Wilmington. Elon moved up from fifth to third with a 302 in the last round to finish at 924, while the Lady Chanticleers were fourth at 927.
Morgan Olds of Elon shot a one-under 71 in the final round to take the medalist honors with a six-over 222, one shot better than Erica Wein of Georgia State. Line Cordes led Coastals effort, shooting 74 in the last 18 and placing sixth with a 226. Lindsey Letzig also finished in the top 15, tying for 13th at 234.
Coastal is next on the tee at the 2005 Palmetto Utility Protection Service (PUPS) Golf Championships to The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor in Greenwood, S.C., Mon.-Wed., Apr. 11-13. The Lady Chanticleers enter the event as the top seed in the conference after their performances throughout the 2004-05 season.
