Women's Golf Tied for Seventh after Opening Round in Mexico
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The Coastal Carolina women's golf team completed the first day of action at the Hawkeye El Tigre Invitational with a 15-over par 303.
Damla Bilgic led the Chanticleers with a 1-over 73 (39-43) and enters the second day of action tied for fifth overall. Marie Lunackova (35-39) is only one stroke back with a 2-over 74. She finished the first round tied for 12th.
The Chants scoring leader coming into the event, Malene Krolboll Hansen, shot an opening-round 75 (38-37) to finish the day tied for 21st.
Stephanie Henning shot a nine-over 81 (40-41) and is tied for 59th heading into Monday's round. Victoria Parker's 11-over 82 (39-33) has her tied for 66th.
CCU will tee off on the second day of the Invitational at 2 p.m. and will start the day tied for seventh place with Kennesaw State. The field remains jumbled as the Chanticleers are only eight strokes behind first-place Washington (295). Texas-San Antonio is in second only two strokes back of Kansas with a 297.
Ole Miss sits in third place with a 298 while Wisconsin (299) and Kansas is in fifth after shooting a 301.
