Palmetto Intercollegiate Live Scoring/Results
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's golf team stood in second place after 18 holes today, but the second round Sunday was suspended due to darkness at the Palmetto Intercollegiate at the par 72, 5,906-yard Oak Point Club.
The Chanticleers shot a 4-over par 292 in the first round to trail leader and Big South rival Campbell by 10 strokes. Only three teams were able to finish their second rounds before darkness fell over the course. As it stands, the Chants slid to fifth place at 13-over with the team getting through 15 holes in its second round.
Senior Eugenia Guerra paced the Chanticleer contingent the first time around the course with her first par or better rounds as a Chanticleer. Guerra carded four birdies, including three straight on her second, third and fourth holes on her way to posting a 71.
Senior Jessica Alexander and freshman Marissa Hinchman were tied for eighth, both carding even-par rounds of 72. Alexander traded three bogeys for three birdies on her way to finishing even on the round. Hinchman was 5-over through her first nine before storming back with five birdies over her final nine holes.
Senior Brittany Henderson and freshman Lena Schaeffner finished their first rounds tied for 38th in the 95-competitor field with 5-over tallies of 77. Henderson sank three birdie putts on the round, while Schaeffner carded 12 holes of par or better.
The second round will conclude Monday, followed by a final 18 holes upon the completion of the second round.
