KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women’s golf team sits in third place after two rounds of the Palmetto Intercollegiate from Oak Point Golf Club.
The Chanticleers turned in rounds of 295 and 287 to finish the day with a total score of 582, trailing tournament leader College of Charleston by just four strokes. The Cougars posted an overall score of 578 after rounds of 287 and 291.
Freshman Courtney Boe led the way for the Chants and enters the final day tied for fourth with a score of 143. Boe shot an even par 72 in the first round and followed that by shooting a one-under par 71 in the second round.
Senior Alicia Grier ended the afternoon tied for sixth following rounds of 73 and 71 to finish with a score of 144. Sophomore Jessica Alexander was next for the Chants and tied for 12th after carding a 74 in the first round and a 71 in the second round for an overall score of 145.
Junior Kaitlin Higginbotham is tied for 29th and stands fourth on the team with an overall score of 150 following rounds of 76 and 74, while Brittany Henderson rounded out the Chanticleer participants with rounds of 84 and 75 to tie for 63rd en route to a final score of 159.
The Chanticleers wrap up competition in the event Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. with round three.
