Susie Maxwell Berning Classic Final Results
NORMAN, Okla. - The Coastal Carolina women’s golf senior Brittany Henderson finished tied for 11th overall to lead the Chanticleers to tie for seventh at the 34th Susie Maxwell Berning Classic hosted by the University of Oklahoma at the 6,237-yard Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.
The Sooners captured the team title with a 5-under 54-hole tally of 859. Notre Dame (888) placed second followed by Denver (898), Texas Tech (899), SMU (901) and Ohio State (902) The Chants, who tied with Texas State for seventh in the 18-team field, posted a three-day tally of 905 (297-299-309).
After leading Coastal with an even-par 72 on Tuesday, Henderson again paced the Chants on Wednesday with a 3-over 75. The senior tied for 11th with a 54-hole total of 222 (75-72-75). She has now recorded a top 20 finish in each of Coastal’s three tournaments this season.
Senior Jessica Alexander posted a final score of 225 (74-73-78), earning a tie for 18th place in the tournament field of 95. Alexander, who shot par or better on 11 round three holes, has also finished in the top 20 in each of Coastal’s three fall events.
Marissa Hinchman, a freshman, fired a third round score of 76 (+4), which was her lowest of the tournament. She finished tied for 54th with a total of 231 (78-77-76).
Frida Castillo and Lena Schaeffner tied for 63rd overall with identical three-day scores of 233. Castillo, who had two birdies on the round, turned in an 81. Schaeffner posted an 80 on the day to match her second day score.
The Chanticleers return to the links at the College of Charleston-hosted Palmetto Classic from Oct. 28-29. The 54-hole tournament will take place at the Oak Point Golf Club in Kiawah Island, S.C.
