Chanticleers Improve Three Spots in Round 2 of Berning Classic

Susie Maxwell Berning Day 2 Results Susie Maxwell Berning Classic Live Scoring NORMAN, Okla. - The Coastal Carolina women's golf team shot a 298 in the second round of the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic to move up three places to 12th with a team score of 607 after 36 holes of the 54-hole tournament. Texas A&M - ranked No. 11 nationally - leads the event with a five-under 36-hole tally of 571. Florida State and No. 23 Oklahoma are tied for second with scores of 578 followed by Texas Tech (582) in fourth. Brittany Henderson paced the Chanticleers in the round with an even-par score of 72, moving her two-round total to 150 and into a tie for 32nd overall. Henderson finished with a birdie and four bogeys on her opening nine, but would recover with three birdies on her back nine to par the round. Senior Kaitlin Higginbotham duplicated her first round score of 76 on the day as her 36-hole total of 152 ties her for 40th in the 90 competitor field. Higginbotham played even-par through the first 13 holes of the tournament, but two bogeys and a double-bogey over the final five holes would leave her four-over for the day. Frida Castillo and Jessica Alexander both shot just under the day's course average 75.89 as each finished turned in rounds of 75. Castillo used nine pars and three birdies versus six bogeys in the round to improve three strokes over her first round score of 78. The freshman is now tied for 47 with a 36-hole score of 153. Alexander finished the round with two birdies, a three bogeys and a double bogey to knock four strokes off her 79 in the first round. The junior is tied for 53rd with a two day total of 154. Rounding out the Coastal finishers on the day was Eugenia Guerra with an 80. Guerra's two-round tally of 157 is tied for 72nd overall.
