NORMAN, Okla. - The Coastal Carolina women's golf team carded a 9-over 297 to tie for seventh in the 18-team field after 18 holes of the Oklahoma-hosted Susie Maxwell Berning Classic at the 6,327-yard, par-72 Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.
The host Sooners lead the event after firing a 4-under 284. Notre Dame, Texas Tech and Texas State sit tied for second with rounds of 289 followed by Denver (290), Ohio State (291). The Chants are tied with Kansas for seventh, while SMU (298) and Kansas State (300) round out the top 10 teams.
Coastal was paced by freshman Lena Schaeffner's career-low tying round of 1-over 73. Schaeffner, who teed off on 9, was 1-under through 15 holes after birdies on 5 and 17, but a pair of bogeys over her last three holes pushed her into a tie for 19th overall.
