MOUNT PLEASANT - Led by top five individual finishes by Lena Schaeffner and Emee Herbert, the Coastal Carolina women's golf team claimed runner-up honors at the CSU Wendy's Invitational contested at the par-72, 6,011-yard Rivertowne Country Club's Arnold Palmer Signature Course.

Schaeffner, a sophomore, fired a 4-over final round score to close the event with a 4-over 36-hole tally of 218 (72-70-76). The score was Schaeffer's best of the season and of her young career. Schaeffner's showcased 14 pars against four bogeys. Herbert, a Chanticleer newcomer, tied for third in the 71-competitor field with a 7-over 223 (72-72-79). Herbert's three-round score was also her best of the season.

Sophomore Brooke Kochevar, who competed in the event as one of four Chanticleer individuals, also tied for third overall. Kochevar (71-76-76=223) notched her career-low round with her 71 first-round score, while also posting her best 54-hole score.

As a team, the Chanticleers posted rounds of 298-290-302 en route to a 26-over 890 score and their best team finish of the fall season. College of Charleston won the 13-team event with a 13-over 877 (290-287-300) final score. Wofford (312-297-311) and Charleston Southern (306-304-310) tied for third with matching 920 sums. Tennessee Tech (314-298-314=926) rounded out the top five on the team leaderboard.

Marissa Hinchman finished in the top-10 for the second consecutive tournament, tying for ninth with a 9-over 225 (75-74-76). Hinchman improved three spots in the individual rankings over the final round of play as she used 14 pars to card a 4-over 76.

Frida Castillo notched Coastal's top round of the day, carding a 1-over 73 and tying for 13th overall with scores of 75-74-76=225. Castillo's final round featured four birdies and 10 pars against a trio of bogeys and a double bogey. Her top-15 finish was her second in as many tournaments.

Nadia Luttner rounded out CCU's team scorers, finishing tied for 32nd with a 54-hole score of 237 (82-78-77).

CCU individuals Courtney Boe, Saskia Sterud and Ashley Yarbrough tied for 24th, 32nd and 41st, respectively. Boe carded rounds of 81-71-80 for a 232 total, her lowest since her freshman campaign. Sterud shot scores of 85-72-80=237 to finish with her best 54-hole total of the season. Yarbrough, a freshman, turned in scores of 79-79-82 to total a 238 in her first career three-round event.

Coastal Carolina returns to the links for its final tournament of the fall season starting on Oct. 27 at the Palmetto Intercollegiate. The College of Charleston-hosted event, contested at Kiawah Island Resort's Turtle Point Course, features 36 holes of play on Sunday, Oct. 27 and wraps with a final 18 holes on Monday, Oct. 28.
