LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Coastal Carolina University women's golf squad posted a very solid opening round and is tied for second after the first 18 holes of the Bettie Lou Evans Fall Invitational, Sept. 25. The three-day, 54-hole event is being played at the University Club of Kentucky Big Blue Course (Par 72 - 6,041 yards) in Lexington, Ky. 

The Chanticleers posted a 13-over 301 and are tied with UCF for second, three shots behind No. 9 Florida State, leading the tournament at 10-over 298. Texas State is in fourth at 14-over 302, with No. 12 Chattanooga rounding out the top five at 15-over 303.

Senior Aruka Felgueroso and junior Alicia Grier led the Coastal Carolina scoring in the first round, each shooting a 2-over 74 to sit in a tie for fifth. Freshman Jessica Alexander was next in a tie for 13th at 3-over 75, with classmate Brittany Henderson next in a tie for 41st at 6-over 78. Junior Carmen Jones was the final player for the Chants, currently in 67th at 11-over 83. Florida State's Macarena Silva was the only player under par in the opening round, shooting a 2-over 70 to lead three other players by two shots.

The Chantcileers will play with Florida State and UCF in the second round on Saturday, Sept. 26.
