MYRTLE BEACH - Coastal Carolina senior Courtney Boe led a contingent of four Chanticleer individuals with a top-five showing at the Myrtle Beach Invitational, contested at Myrtle Beach National's Southcreek Course.
Boe, who shot a 2-over 74 on the opening round, carded a 4-over 76 to close the event with a 36-hole hole tally of 150 (+6). Boe tied for fourth in the 41-competitor field with Gardner-Webb's Taylor Dodson.
Saskia Sterud shaved seven strokes off her first-round 82 to card a final round 75. Thanks to her 75, Sterud advanced 10 places up the individual leaderboard to tie for 13th with a two-round score of 157 (+13).
Emee Herbert tied for 18th overall with a final score of 161. She opened the event with a 77 before shooting an 84 over the course of round two.
Freshman Ashley Yarbrough turned in a tied for 24th-place finish. The Akron, Ohio, native carded rounds of 80-85 en route to her 165 score.
The event was the first as Chanticleers in the collegiate careers of Sterud and Yarbrough.
High Point won the team title with a score of 602 (299-303) followed by Gardner-Webb (309-309=618), Winthrop (310-309=619), Radford (325-319=644), Presbyterian College (320-333=653) and The Citadel (342-327=669). Sarah Bae of High Point captured individual medalist honors with a 4-under score of 140 (68-72).
The Chanticleer team returns to the links at the Texas State-hosted Challenge at Onion Creek played at the Onion Creek Golf Club in Austin, Texas. The three-round tournament gets underway on Monday, Sept. 30.
