Schaeffner Leading Chants at Lady Paladin Invitational

GREENVILLE - Coastal Carolina sophomore Len Schaeffner carded the fourth-best round of her career, shooting a 1-over 73 to stand tied for 13th, after the first round of the three-day Lady Paladin Intercollegiate, played at the par 72, 6,266-yard Furman University Golf Course.
The Chanticleers are tied for sixth in the 16-team field after finishing with a 13-over 301 Friday. Georgia Regents University Augusta is atop the leaderboard after 18 holes, posting a 3-under 285. Clemson's Ashlan Ramsey and Georiga Regents Augusta's Eunice Yi co-lead the individual field, each shooting a 4-under 68.
Schaeffner was 2-under after 12 holes, having four birdies and seven pars, despite opening the day with a double-bogey on the par-4 10th. She would trade bogeys and pars for the remainder of the round, leading to her 1-over 73.
Fellow sophomore Marissa Hinchmanturned in a 3-over 75 on the day and is tied for 25th on the individual leaderboard. Hinchman's round featured three birdies and 10 pars, but she was undone by a double-bogey and four bogeys.
Frida Castillois tied for 33rd after carding a 4-over 76. Castillo played her front nine at 6-over, but rebounded to play her back nine at 2-under with the benefit of three birdies.
Nadia Luttner and Brooke Kochevarare tied for 48th, each turning in a round of 5-over 77. Kochevar, playing in her first tournament as a Chanticleer, had Coastal's hole of the day as she eagled the par-5, 480-yard second hole.
The event will resume Saturday with 18 holes and conclude with 18 holes Sunday.
