2012 Dale McNamara Invitational Final Results

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. - The Coastal Carolina women's golf team improved two spots over the final round to place fifth overall in the 15-team field at Tulsa's Dale McNamara Invitational, played on the 6,282-yard, Par 72 Golf Club of Oklahoma.

The Chanticleers carded a 290, which was the low round of the day, during their third round en route to 22-over 886 54-hole total (293-303-290) and the team's first top five finish this season. Arizona State (280-292-294 - 866) finished a 2-over to win the tournament. Florida placed second followed by Oklahoma, East Carolina and Coastal to round out the top five.

Senior standout Brittany Henderson led Coastal around the course on the final 18 holes with a 1-under 71. The Smiths Falls, Ontario, native posted a final score of 1-over 217 (74-72-71) to place ninth in the 75-competitor field. Henderson was a model of consistency through her first 11 holes as she played the course even. She would drop under par thanks to back-to-back birdies on five and six before a bogey on nine brought back to 1-under. She would par her final two holes of the tournament, leading to her first sub-par round of the season.

Newcomer Marissa Hinchman continued to impress in her first collegiate tournament, turning in an even-par 72 on the day to place 23rd overall (76-74-72 - 222). Hinchman opened her round with a bogey on 13 but got the stroke back with a birdie on No. 3. She then bogeyed the difficult fourth hole but countered with a birdie and seven pars over her final eight holes to card her 72.

Jessica Alexander tied for 24th at plus-7 (68-81-74 - 223) overall after posting a 74 on the day. The senior played even through her opening nine thanks to two birdies countering two bogeys. She would exchange a birdie on eight with a bogey on 10 to step to her 18th tee box at even-par. However, a double-bogey on the par-3 13th hole pushed her to a 74.

Freshman Lena Schaeffner played consistent all day producing a 1-over 73. She finished the tournament tied for 35th (76-79-73 - 228). Frida Castillo rounded out the Chanticleer lineup as she placed 41-t. The sophomore knocked a stroke off her second round to card a 5-over 77 on her final 18 holes.

The Chants return to action Oct. 8-9 at the East Carolina-hosted Lady Pirate Intercollegiate.
