HANAHAN, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's golf team turned in a 17th-place finish at the season-opening Charleston Classic at the par-72, 6,204-yard Yeamans Hall Golf Club with a 54-hole score of 914.

Florida captured the team title with a 5-under 54-hole tally of 859. Clemson (860) placed second followed by host College of Charleston (861), N.C. State (863), and Mississippi State (871) The Chants posted scores of 303-305-306 - 914 (+50) en route to their 17th-place showing.

After leading Coastal with a 1-over par 73 on Monday, Frida Castillo finished the final round of the tournament with a 6-over 78. The junior tied for 50th with a 54-hole total of 227 (74-75-78). She closed the event with three birdies and 38 pars. The 54-hole score was the seventh-best of Castillo's Chanticleer career.

Sophomore Marissa Hinchman posted a final score of 227 (74-75-78), earning a tie for 57th place in the tournament field of 108. Hinchman led the Chanticleers with seven birdies over the 54 holes of play. Her three-day score is her lowest since posting a 4-over 220 at the Palmetto Intercollegiate last fall.

Nadia Luttner, appearing in the Chanticleer lineup for the first time, fired a team-best third round score of 73 (+1), her lowest of the tournament. Luttner's round featured a string of 12 holes of par or better. She finished tied for 72nd with a total of 230 (77-80-73).

Lena Schaeffner tied for 80th overall with a three-day score of 232 (77-78-77). Schaeffner posted a birdie and 11 pars over her final round.

Newcomer Emee Herbert shot a 78 on the day to close the tournament tied for 91st with a 237 (80-79-78). Herbert's final round was highlighted by birdies on the par-3 sixth hole and the par-4 10th. The Chanticleers return to the links at the Furman-hosted Lady Paladin Invitational from Sept. 20-22. The 54-hole tournament will take place at the Furman University Golf Club in Greenville, S.C.
