COLUMBUS, OHIO - Coastal Carolina University golfer Brittany Henderson wrapped up her third NCAA regional appearance with a 79 on Saturday, finishing tied for 68th at the NCAA Women's Golf Central Regional held at The Ohio State University Golf Club's Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.

Henderson posted rounds of 81-77-79 for a final 54-hole tally of 237 (+21). The junior finishes the season with the fifth-lowest single-season scoring average (75.77) in program history.

Only Aruka Felgueroso (2009-10, 73.43 and 2006-07, 73.79), Jessica Alexander (2010-11, 74.66) and Line Cordes(2004-05, 74.73) have posted lower single-season scoring averages as a Chanticleer.

"I am very proud of Brittany this season. For her to get this far as an individual is a testament to her hard work and dedication to her game," said head coach Katie Quinney. "Brittany should come away from this event knowing that she is among the elite college players. To be successful at any level you will go through growing pains.

"Also, at the championship level, the course will be set up to expose the soft parts of your game. She now knows what she needs to do to tighten up her game and correct those mistakes heading into her senior season."

Teeing off from the back nine, Henderson started the day on the right foot as she parred both 10 and 11 for the second consecutive day after bogeying both holes during her first round. She then stumbled on 12 with a bogey before atoning for her mistake two holes later with a birdie on the par-5, 460-yard 14th to bring her back to even-par. A double-bogey on 15 followed by a series of three pars sent her out with a 2-over 38.

A double-bogey on one and a bogey on three would push her score to plus-4. Henderson then birdied her second par 5 of the day on the 453-yard fourth hole. She followed with a par on five; however, her round would be undone with a trio of bogeys over her next three holes. Henderson carded a par on her final hole of the 2012 season to finish the round with a 7-over 79.

Henderson had a remarkable season that included an All-Big South selection by the league's coaches, Big South Championship individual medalist honors and career-low round of 68 to set the Big South Championship all-time low round record. Additionally, the Smiths Falls, Ontario, native tallied a trio of top-10 finishes despite the Chants playing one of the toughest schedules in the country. Henderson played as the number one player for the Chants throughout the spring season.

The top eight teams advanced to the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship, which will be held May 22-25 in Franklin, Tenn. Third-ranked USC won the NCAA West Regional by a 13-stroke margin; joining USC at the NCAA Championship will be Vanderbilt, Purdue, Tennessee, Virginia, Ohio State, N.C. State and Arkansas. Florida State's Maria Salinas (3-under 213) and Georgia's Rocio Sanchez Lobato (6-over 222) also advanced to the NCAA Championship as individuals.
