COLUMBUS, OHIO - Coastal Carolina's Brittany Henderson turned in a 5-over par 77 in the second round of the NCAA Central Regional on Friday at The Ohio State University Golf Club. The score vaults the junior ahead 17 places on the individual leaderboard into a tie for 61st place with a two-round tally of 158.
Despite starting her second round with a pair of bogeys, Henderson produced a much cleaner scorecard as she made her way around the par 72, 6,264-yard Scarlet Course for the second time. After her opening two bogeys, Henderson sank five par putts along with birdie putts on four and seven to go out with an even-par 36. Henderson ran her streak of par or better holes to nine as she opened the back nine with two consecutive pars. She would struggle on the four ensuing holes, carding three bogeys and a double bogey before finishing her round with a trio of pars to post her 77.
Henderson tees off on the final round of the regional from the back nine at 8:55 a.m.
Third ranked Southern California (+12) leads the team competition after 36 holes, with the Trojans' Lisa McCloskey (-3) atop the individual leaderboard. Most in the field of 126 struggled on day two with just seven players shooting even par or better. The best round of the day came from McCloskey and teammate Sophia Popov, as both carded a 4-under par 68.
The top eight teams and the top two individuals in the tournament, will qualify for the NCAA Championships at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn., from May 22-25.
