NINETY SIX, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women’s golf team remains in first place after two rounds of competition at the Big South Championships from The Patriot Golf Club.
The Chanticleers finished day two of the tournament with an overall score of 613 (301-312) on the par-72, 6,025 yard course and sit nine strokes ahead of Gardner-Webb (316-306=622).
Coastal junior Kaitlin Higginbotham and sophomore Brittany Henderson and both tied for second place with overall scores of 152. Higginbotham fired a 75 Monday in round one before carding a 77 Tuesday in round two.
Henderson shot a 74 Monday in round one and finished as the overall leader before firing a 78 in round two on Tuesday.
Sophomore Jessica Alexander turned in rounds of 75 and 78 and is tied for fourth place entering the final round. Freshman Courtney Boe is tied for eighth place with scores of 77 and 79, while senior Alicia Grier carded rounds of 81 and 82 and is tied for 22nd place.
The third and final round of competition begins Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.
