NINETY SIX, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women’s golf team sits in first place after one round of the Big South Championships hosted by Winthrop from The Patriot Golf Club. 

The top-seeded Chanticleers finished the day with an overall score of 301 on the par-72, 6,025 yard course and sit 11 strokes ahead of second-place Charleston Southern. 

Sophomore Brittany Henderson sits atop the leaderboard after carding a score of 74 in round one and is one stroke ahead of five players tied for second place. 

Fellow sophomore Jessica Alexander and junior Kaitlin Higginbotham are two of the three tied for second place with overall scores of 75. 

Freshman Courtney Boe is tied for 10th place overall following a score of 77 in round one, while senior Alicia Grier ended her afternoon tied for 16th after firing an 81.

Round two of the tournament begins on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.
