CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team continued to move up the leaderboard during the day, eventually finishing in a tie for 10th at the Rebel Intercollegiate, April 2-4. The three-day, 54-hole event was played at the Ole Miss Golf Course (Par 72 - 6,351 yards) in Oxford, Miss.
Starting the day in 14th, the Chanticleers moved up four more spots in the final round after shooting a 303 to finish at 51-over 915 and tie for 10th with Augusta State. Tulane took home the team title at 13-over 877, three shots better than runner-up Texas A&M at 880. Mississippi was third at 881, with East Tennessee State (884) and Missouri (888) placing fourth and fifth, respectively.
Senior Aruka Felgueroso posted her seventh top-10 finish in nine events this year by shooting a 3-under 69 in the final round, the best score in the field in the final 18, and tying for sixth at 1-over 217. Freshman Brittany Henderson was next in a tie for 54th at 231, with fellow freshman Jessica Alexander next in a tie for 67th at 234. Junior Alicia Grier tied for 70th at 235, with freshman Taylor Slagle tying for 84th at 239. Julia Potter of Missouri took home the individual medalist honor with an 8-under 208, winning by six shots over Mississippi's Haley Sanders and Julia Boland of Texas A&M.
The Chanticleers are next in action April 12-14, as they look to defend their Big South Conference title at the 2010 Big South Conference Women's Golf Championship presented by Musco Lighting. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will again be played at The Patriot Golf Club in Ninety-Six, S.C.
