CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina University's women's golf team struggled in the opening round and is 18th at the Rebel Intercollegiate, April 2. The three-day, 54-hole event is being played at the Ole Miss Golf Course in Oxford, Miss.

The Chanticleers only had one score under 80 on the day and posted a 314 overall to sit in 18th place. Tulane is the opening round leader at 290, two shots better than East Tennessee State at 292 and four shots better than host Ole Miss and Missouri, tied for fourth at 294. Texas A&M rounds out the top five at 298.

The Chanticleers are led by senior Aruka Felgueroso in a tie for 12th at 1-over 73. Freshman Brittany Henderson and junior Alicia Grier are tied for 71st at 8-over 80, while freshman Jessica Alexander is tied for 81st at 9-over 81. Freshman Taylor Slagle is currently tied for 90th after an opening round 82. Haley Sanders of Ole Miss, Missouri's Julia Potter and Tulane's Linn Gustafsson are tied for the opening round lead after each shot 2-under 70.

The second round will be played on Saturday, April 3.
