AUGUSTA, GA. - The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team shot rounds of 311 and 306 over the final 36 holes of the 3M Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate to place 10th with a 54-hole tally of 935 (+71).

The tournament format was originally set for three individual rounds of 18 holes at the Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., but expected inclement weather Sunday rearranged play for 18 holes Friday followed by 36 holes Saturday.

Vanderbilt, ranked 14th by Golfstat, won the event with a 32-over score of 896 (299-302-295), while Mercer (312-288-306=906) claimed runner-up honors. No. 41 Kansas (316-294-302=910), No. 46 East Tennessee State (309-299-303=911) and Campbell (318-301-303=922) rounded out the top five. No. 34-ranked and host GRU August (318-299-309=926) placed sixth followed by Illinois (311-300-317=928) in seventh. Purdue (321-309-300) and Troy (320-307-303) tied for eighth with three-round 930 totals. Coastal (318-311-306) edged Chattanooga (325-312-299=936) by a single stroke to record its fifth consecutive top-10 finish.

Mercer's Lacey Fears claimed medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 1-over 217 (73-70-74).

Lena Schaeffner was the Chanticleers' top finisher in the event as she posted an 11-over 227 (79-74-74) score. Schaeffner, who opened the day tied for 16th on the individual leaderboard, shot identical rounds of 2-over 74 on the day. The sophomore posted 12 pars and two birdies over her first 18 holes. She then backed that performance up with 13 pars and two birdies on her third and final round of the tournament en route to tying for 12th in the 75-competitor field.

Frida Castillo tied for 30th overall with a 17-over three-round score of 233 (80-80-73). Castillo matched her first round effort with an 80 in her opening round of the day. She then rallied to post Coastal's best individual round of the tournament with 73 during her third round. The senior's third round was ignited by three birdies over her first seven holes before closing the round with a birdie putt on the par-5, 487-yard sixth hole. Castillo's nine birdies throughout the tournament led all Chanticleers.

Marissa Hinchman carded rounds of 77 and 80 on the day to tie for 36th with a 236 (+20) total. Hinchman, a sophomore, turned in 23 pars and two birdies on the day. Her second round of the tournament was relatively trouble free with the exception of a triple-bogey on the par-5 17th hole. She played her opening seven holes of the third round 1-under before trouble on holes 12-16 left her 6-over as she approached the tee box on 17. She steadied and played the remainder of the round 2-over with four pars.

Emee Herbert and Courtney Boe tied for 49th and 58th overall, respectively. Herbert (80-81-79) closed the event with a 24-over 240, while Boe (84-80-80) shot a 28-over 244. Herbert notched eight pars and four birdies over her final 36 holes, but was undone by holes 12-18 in each round. Boe, who scored five birdies on the day, including four during her final round, was hindered by the front nine during each trip around the par-72, 6214-yard course.

Coastal returns to the links on March 24-25 at the College of Charleston-hosted Creek Invitational.
