WAIKIKI, HAWAI'I - Brittany Henderson and Jessica Alexander each carded top 10 finishes in the 26th annual Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational to lead the Coastal Carolina women's golf team to a fourth-place finish in the 14-team field.

The Chanticleers shot a final round of 20-over par as a team during Wednesday's action to fall one place in the team standings. No. 12 Texas A&M won the event with a three-round score of 37-over par and was followed by No. 24 UC Davis (+41), Gonzaga (+46), Coastal Carolina (+51) and Texas State (+60) in the top five at the par-72, 6,139 yard Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course in Waikiki, Hawai'i.

Henderson led the charge as she tied for second overall, equaling her career-best finish, with a 54-hole score of 222 (72-72-78). Shooting a final round of 6-over par, Henderson played her front nine holes 1-under par with a birdie on the par-4 second hole. However, after the turn Henderson struggled to a 7-over finish over her final nine holes. The junior finished the tournament ranked tied for first as she played the par-4's 1-over for the tournament.

Alexander turned in a sixth-place finish (tied), her best of the season, with a three-day tally of 222 (77-74-75). Alexander countered an early bogey with a birdie to play even par through her first nine holes of the day. The junior then fell into a mid-round slump as she bogeyed four of her next five holes before recovering with a birdie on the par-5 16th hole. She parred out the round to produce her plus-3 score.

Senior Kaitlin Higginbotham carded Coastal's best round on Wednesday, despite a double bogey, helping her finish tied for 21st overall. Higginbotham started the day 1-under through her first nine holes. One-under as she stepped onto the 12th tee box, Higginbotham would record a double bogey but would recover with two bogeys versus one bogey to finish the round at even par. Higginbotham co-led the field with a combined 10 birdies over the two-day event.

Freshman Frida Castillo fired an 86 on the day to place tied for 54th with a three-round 241 total. Courtney Boe rounded out the Coastal contingent an 83 to tie for 65 overall.

The Chanticleers don't get much time before their next round of competition as they play in The Battle at Rancho Bernardo Inn at the Championship Golf Course at Rancho Bernardo Inn Golf Resort & Spa in San Diego, Calif., March 18-20.
