SORRENTO, FLA. -- Coastal Carolina University's women's golf team is tied for seventh through two rounds of the 2010 UCF Challenge, March 1. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being played at RedTail Golf Club (Par 72 - 6,301yards) in Sorrento, Fla.
Coastal shot a 302 in the opening round and came back with a 298 in the afternoon for a 36-hole total of 600, tied with Furman for seventh. Georgia State is the two-round leader at 591, seven shots ahead of Texas A&M, UCF and Baylor tied for second. Oklahoma and College of Charleston are tied for fifth at 599, one shot ahead of the Chanticleers.
The Chants are led by freshman Jessica Alexander at 1-over 145, good for a tie for seventh. Senior Aruka Felgueroso was next in a tie for 19th at 5-over 149, while freshman Brittany Henderson posted a 9-over 153, good for a tie for 37th. Junior Alicia Grier is next in a tie for 49th at 11-over 155, while freshman Taylor Slagle, in her first team collegiate action, is in a tie for 54th at 13-over 157. Texas A&M's Julia Boland is the 36-hole leader at 4-over 140, one shot ahead of teammate Sarah Zwartynski.
The Chanticleers are back on course for the final round tomorrow, March 2, with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
