Henderson Leads Coastal with Sixth-Place Finish at Central District Invite

PARRISH, Fla. - Brittany Henderson fired an even-par 72 on the third and final round of the Central District Invitational to card a sixth-place finish (tied) to lead the Coastal Carolina women's golf team to an overall 10th-place finish.

The Chanticleers finished the tournament with a score of 906 after turning in rounds of 297, 307 and 302 on the par 72, 6,218-yard course. TCU captured the team title with an overall score of 882 (297-289-296), while No. 25 Oklahoma (291-293-299=883), No. 5 Vanderbilt (293-294-297=884), No. 7 LSU (291-301-293=885) and No. 26 Michigan State (295-294-298=887) rounded out the top five.

Chirapat Jao-Javanil of Oklahoma collected the individual title with an overall score of 212 to finish four strokes under par.

Henderson finished first for the Chants as she tallied her seventh career top-10 finish with a 54-hole score of 218 (73-73-72). Henderson ended day one tied for 11th place after carding back-to-back rounds of 73. The Smiths Fall, Ontario, native sat 2-over after the front nine of her final round, but rebounded with consecutive birdies on the sixth and seventh holes to get back to even par and collect her best individual finish of the young season.

Frida Castillo was second for Coastal and tied for 31st overall with a three-round score of 228. Castillo opened the event with a 75 before carding a 77 in the second round. The freshman turned in a score of 76, which included four birdies on Tuesday in the third round. The finish was the highest of Castillo's young career as a Chanticleer.

Senior Kaitlin Higginbotham finished one stroke behind Castillo and tied for 38th with an overall score of 229 after posting rounds of 73, 78 and 78. Jessica Alexander tied for 47th with a two-day total of 231 (76-79-76), while sophomore Courtney Boe rounded out the Coastal contingent with a score of 246 (79-85-82).
