MIAMI LAKES, FLA. --  Coastal Carolina University's women's golf team put together a solid opening round and sits in second after the first round of the 2010 Hurricane Invitational, Feb. 14. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being played at Don Shula's Golf Club  (Par 72-6,199 yards) in Miami Lakes, Fla.

    Coastal put together a solid team score of 8-over 296 on the day and trails first-round leader Georgia State by just four shots. San Diego State is in third at 303, with East Tennessee State and North Carolina State tied for fourth at 304.

    The Chanticleers were led by senior Aruka Felgueroso and junior Alicia Grier, who each turned in an even-par 72 and are tied for second after 18 holes. Freshman Brittany Henderson is tied for 18th after a 3-over 75, while fellow fresman Jessica Alexander is tied for 34th at 5-over 77. Junior Carmen Jones wrapped up the Chants' scoring in 87th at 16-over 88. San Diego State's Christine Wong was the only player under par in the first round with a 3-under 69.

    The Chanticleers will be paired with Georgia State and San Diego State for the second round, as the three teams will go off in the top shotgun pairings starting at 12:30 p.m.
