SORRENTO, Fla. - Senior Brittany Henderson shot a 2-under 70 and is tied for eighth in the 99-competitor field through 18 holes of the annual UCF Challenge in Sorrento, Fla. As a team Coastal Carolina carded a 14-over 302 to sit 16th in the 18-team field at the 6,374-yard, par-72 Redtail Golf Club.

Henderson played the front nine even thanks to birdies on the par-5 seventh hole and the par-4 ninth. After the turn, the Smith Falls, Ontario native carded six straight pars before notching birdies on 16 and 17 and a par on 18. Henderson's 2-under round is her fourth par or better round this season and the 15th of her Chanticleer career.

South Carolina leads the event after firing a 4-under 284. North Carolina, UCF and Augusta State sit tied for second with rounds of 287 followed by Tulane's 288 to round out the top five.

Newcomer Lena Schaeffner was the Chants' second-best finisher of the day, posting a 3-over 75. Schaeffner was 1-over at the turn and even through 13 holes. However, bogeys on the par-4 14th, 16th and 18th holes led to her 49th (tied) standing on the leaderboard.

Marissa Hinchman finished the day a stroke behind Schaeffner with a 4-over 75. The freshman posted four birdies on her round to tie for 59th in the field.

Senior Jessica Alexander and sophomore Frida Castillo shot matching scores of 81 (+9) and stand in a tie for 91st place. Alexander turned in two birdies on her round, while Castillo notched one.

Coastal returns to the links at 8:30 a.m. on Monday morning for round two of the UCF Challenge.
