Coastal Carolina women's golf head coach Katie Quinney announced the addition of Whitney Wade as the Chanticleers' new assistant coach on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012.

Wade comes to Coastal after spending the last five seasons in the professional ranks.

"I am very excited to join Coastal Carolina University and assist coach Quinney in continuing to build a top notch women's golf program," Wade said. "She has gathered a great group of ladies, and I am looking forward to working with them in the seasons to come. This is a new opportunity for me to make the transition from player to coach and explore the game from a whole new perspective."

Wade, who earned National Golf Coaches Association All-America honors in 2005, 2006 and 2007, claimed four first team All-Southeastern Conference honors at Georgia before beginning her professional career on the Duramed FUTURES Tour.

She recorded nine top-10 finishes in 47 starts on the FUTURES Tour from 2006, 2008-10. In 2009, Wade won the Duramed Championship as she shot a nine-under par 204 for the tournament. Additionally in 2009, she finished sixth on the FUTURES Tour season-ending money list to earn her tour card for the 2010 LPGA season. Wade played the 2010 season on the LPGA tour finishing the season with a 72.75 scoring average. Additionally, Wade played in the 2003, 2008 and 2011 U.S. Open.

"Whitney is a great addition to our program," Quinney said. "Her wealth of golf knowledge makes her particularly strong in helping players shape their individual styles of play in a way that is going to make them most successful. A lot of the players who come onto the team have dreams of being pros, and so having someone who's not only played on the FUTURES Tour, but also on the LPGA Tour, she can talk from experience about what it's like to be a professional."

During her four-year career at Georgia, Wade helped the Bulldogs to seven team titles, including the 2007 SEC championship team title. As a senior, she followed her stellar play at the SEC Championship with a 11th place finish at the NCAA Central Regional in Ann Arbor, Mich., to help the Bulldogs to a second place finish and a berth in the NCAA Championship where Georgia posted an eighth place finish.

Prior to her collegiate career at Georgia, Wade won five times on the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) circuit, and in 2002, was named to the First Team AJGA Polo Golf All-American, as she represented the United States on the PING Junior Solheim Cup Team. Additionally, she was a four-time Kentucky State Amateur champion (1998-2000).

A native of Glasgow, Ky., Wade graduated from Georgia in 2007 with a degree in communications.
