CONWAY- The Coastal Carolina women’s basketball team will host the Converse Valkyries on Sunday, Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. The game is the first in a two game home stand for the Chants and the first home contest since the 78-25 victory over Coker on Nov. 28.

Notes: Converse enters the contest having yet to win a game this season. The Valkyries are 0-2 in Conference Carolinas play having dropped their most previous game 71-56 against Queens University. Last season the Chants defeated Converse 65-47 former Coastal standouts Devin Rivers and Amanda Stull led the Chants on the court with 17 and 15 points respectively.
Converse Valkyries
Converse has yet to claim a victory this season as the Valkyries have lost each game by an average 17.6 points. Converse has allowed team to shoot over 42 percent from the floor this season while only shooting 30 percent. The Valkyries average 25.9 turnovers and 9.7 assists per game. A resounding 35 percent of Converse’s shots taken this season have been from beyond the arc with only 36 finding their way through the hoop.

Cook Named to All-Tourney Team
Freshman Kayla Cook was named to the Aces Classic all-tournament team after averaging 10.5 points per game against Central Michigan and Valparaiso. During the tournament, Cook shot 42 percent from the field and connected on two shots from downtown.
Dynamic Duo
Guard Olivia Irick and forward Sydnei Moss have carried the load for the Chanticleers this season as the two lead the team in scoring. Moss averages 10.0 points per game while Irick contributes 8.1. Moss also leads the Chants with 74 total rebounds (20 offensive and 54 defensive). Irick is the Chanticleers most lethal threat from beyond the arc as she has knocked down a team-high seven three-pointers this season.
Around the Country
Coastal Carolina ranks 39th in field goal percentage defense allowing opponents to hit 34.7 percent of their shots taken. The Chanticleers sit 32nd in the country averaging 5.1 blocked shots per game.
Individually, Katie White is 12th in the NCAA as she averages 2.9 blocks per game and Sydnei Moss is 69th with 9.3 rebound per game. White finished last season ranked 22nd with an average of 2.3 rejections per contest.
In the Big South
As a team, Coastal Carolina ranks tops in field goal percentage defense allowing opponents to only shoot 34.7 percent from the floor. Due in large part to Katie Whites 23 rejections on the season, Coastal is second in the Big South in blocked shots with 41 on the season. Also on the defensive end, the Chants hold the Conferences top spot averaging 30.75 defensive rebounds per game.
Individually, White is second in the Big South with 23 blocked shots this season while Sydnei Moss ranks 16th averaging 10.0 points per game. Moss is also second in the League with 57 rebounds for a 9.3 per game average.
Record Watch
Katie White’s 165 career blocks (23 this season) now rank her eighth all-time in the Big South Conference career record books. She needs 18 more blocks to take over Charleston Southern’s Shaunte Small for seventh place at 182 career blocks.
Sydnei Moss has scored 80 points this season to make her the tenth most prolific scorer in Coastal Carolina history. Her 1077 points is 103 behind Janice Dewitt for ninth place on the Coastal Carolina all-time list.
